Allen studied law and English at the University of Georgia, and Scottish literature at the University of Edinburgh. He practiced law in Columbus, Georgia for thirteen years before becoming a full-time singer songwriter in 1996. He's a “self-described musician with a microscopic following,” has recorded twenty-three albums. Allen lives in Hamilton, Georgia.
